Helpful to have when you call
Nothing is required. If it is easy, though, these help us plan the visit: roughly when the house was built; whether it sits on a basement, a crawl space or a slab; when you first noticed the crack, the sloping floor or the water; whether it changes between wet and dry months; and a phone photo of the worst spot. If you are buying or selling, tell us the closing date.
After you reach out
We set a time that suits you. The specialist walks the outside first, checking grading, gutters, downspouts and any low spots, then measures inside with a level and a crack gauge and looks at the crawl space or basement. You get a written plan that names the cause, the repair and the price. If the house needs nothing, or only a gutter fix, you will hear that too.
Call right away if a basement wall has visibly pushed inward, a new crack opened wider than a pencil in a matter of days, water is rising in the basement or crawl space, or the ground has dropped beside the house. Keep people away from a bowing wall, and stay out of a flooded basement while outlets or cords are near the water.
